When people are super stressed or anxious, I always recommend taking a lap around your block or office building. Walking at a moderate pace still works the heart, plus, you’ll be able to clear your mind and focus on yourself.
When something comes up that worries you, write it down and put it in the box. Once a week, go through your box. Experts say 90% of what you worry about doesn't happen. The act of writing anxious thoughts down is brain dumping which can help reduce symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression.
Five Tips To Manage Anxious Thoughts
We can be intentional with our thoughts every day and then out of the blue, we get triggered and alarms start going off. At that moment, what do you do? Add these practices to your stress toolkit.
Top Five Things To Do When Stress & Anxiety Are Triggered
Do you know what it means when someone asks what your numbers are? Most people have no idea what that means or even what bloodwork they should be asking their doctor to order for them so that they do know.
Five markers determine your overall metabolic health:
1. Is your Waist Circumference under 35 inches for women or under 40 inches for men?
Note: Meaure your waist above the belly button...no sucking it in.
2. Is your Fasting Glucose under 100 mg/dl (without taking medication)?
3. Is your Blood Pressure lower than 130/85 mm Hg (without taking medication)?
4. Is your HDL (good) Cholesterol over 40 mg/dL for men or over 50 mg/dL for women?
5. Is your Triglycerides under 150 mg/dL?
NOTE: If you answered "NO" to three or more of the questions, you would be diagnosed with metabolic syndrome; however even saying "NO" to one or two of these criteria is a warning sign of having poor metabolic health. (Source: Stay Off My Operating Table, by heart surgeon, Philip Ovadia, MD)
Personal Story: When I was diagonosed with endometrium cancer at age 40, at my first appointment my oncologist said, "I see you're taking Metformin. You're diabetic." I said, "Oh no, I'm metabolic resistant, not diabetic." He shakes his hand in the air to dismiss what I said and responds..."Same thing." (I later learned that it is Stage 1 of Type 2 Diabetes.) Shocked, I thought....was I just in la-la land when my doctor put me on Metformin? Did they say I had diabetes and I just didn't hear it? What else did I miss? I come to find out...a lot. Ten years after my cancer journey, my diabetes was out of control even on multiple medications, and it led to me having a heart attack, four stents and double bypass heart surgery. I didn't know what my numbers meant or how to change them.
Dr. Ovadia suggests the following six basic tests:
1. Complete Blood Count - CBC
2. Comprehensive Metabolic Panel - CMP
3. Basic Lipid Profile
4. Insulin Level (An elevated insulin level is an early indicator of many diseases, including cancer, heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimers and more.)
5. Vitamin D & Vitamin B12 Levels (It is very common for people to be deficient.)
6. Hemoglobin A1C
Personal Story: When I was diagnosed with cancer, the first bloodwork found that I was severely deficient in Vitamin D. I had to go on a prescription dose to get my levels back up.
Note: I let the bloodwork results and the interpretation of those results from my trusted doctors determine if I need to add a specific vitamin to my medication list. Vitamins are drugs, whether they are prescription or over-the-counter and should not be self-prescribed.
Also, I will do my due diligence and double-check with my pharmacist to make sure a vitamin or some other drug will not interact with my current medications. They are the drug experts...not me.
Why do you need Celtic Salt & Water? Grab a notebook and pen and learn from the expert Barbara O'Neill.
Water is the second most vital element needed for life, which is why you can only survive a couple of weeks without water. Oxygen (of course) is the first and most vital element of life.
Do you drink at least 64oz of water each day?
Common answers:
The last two answers indicate that the water is not going into your cells to do the work it needs to do. So, how do you get the water into the cell? You need the third most vital element for life, which is sodium...the right kind of sodium...not table salt. The fourth most vital element for life is potassium.
GET THE WATER INTO THE CELL
1. Barbara says to put a Celtic salt crystal on your tongue and let it absorb. Start with one crystal (sesame seed-sized) if you have high blood pressure. You can do 2-3 crystals if you don't. Drink 4 oz of water.
Note: Why Celtic salt? It has 82 minerals including magnesium (mg) chloride, mg bromide, and mg sulfate. Magnesium is the quickest way to get water into the cell to hydrate the body.
2. Don't drink your water all at once. Spread it out throughout the day and you won't have to go to the bathroom all of the time and your feet and legs won't swell.
Personal Story: I had so many lightbulb moments when I came across this video researching hydration. Barbara is a health teacher on many topics and explains things in a very easy-to-understand way. I was drinking the right amount of water but it wasn't getting into my cells. I drank too much water all at once and was just peeing it out. It never got a chance to do the work it needed to do in my cells to help my body function properly.
